In August, Shams Al Thahabiyya was part of a photo shoot by the talented Emma Maxwell. We were thrilled with the results, which we felt perfectly captures Shamsi’s grace and elegance and we hope you enjoy this selection. Thank you Emma! What a season Ivy Arabians has had, and it has passed by in a whirl!
Our two horses, Shams Al Thahabiyya and Psyanara, have been competing across the UK and enjoyed some magical moments in the show-ring. From her first show this year, where she took the Silver Filly Championship in Cornwall, to the British Nationals, where she took the Thee-year-old Futurity Filly title in some style, Shamsi has continue to impress the crowds with her powerful movement, good limbs and classic looks. At the Aintree International Show, under a three-judge points system, she tied for 3rd place with 90 points, including an impressive 18 for legs! Psyanara, meanwhile, has enjoyed her debut ridden season under Fiona Grant-Chivers of the Legacy Stud. As the season went on, Psyanara grew in confidence and she won her novice ridden mare class at the Midland Arabian Festival before taking Bronze in the Novice Ridden Championship. Just days later, shown in-hand at the Royal Norfolk Show, Psyanara took the senior class before taking the Overall Pure-bred In-hand Championship, a title that has eluded Ivy Arabians for over 30 years. From there, the British Nationals called and Psyanara won her novice mare class in style, won the Best Novice Ridden Mare Championship and then became British National Champion Reserve Supreme Novice! With Shamsi’s win in the futurity ring happening just minutes before, it was a very emotional afternoon for the Mattocks family! Thank you to everyone who was there to support and congratulate us – it meant a lot and we were touched by your kindness. Thank you.
2011 has got off to a flying start!
In March, news reached us that Sha’heil Ibn Sadik, out of our mare Sirella Blue, took second place at the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championships in the endurance class. We were thrilled that our 10-year-old gelding is proving his potential for his owners, the W’rsan Stables, and we congratulate them on this result. April saw our novice mare, Psyanara, make her ridden debut, taking third place at our local group show. She followed this up with another third place at her next show and is showing great potential. Meanwhile, Shams Al Thahabiyya returned to the show-ring over the May Day weekend, winning her class and taking the Silver Junior Female Championship at the Cornish C Show. The next outing for both Psyanara and Shamsi is the Wales & West C Show and we are looking forward to seeing our girls compete as the season progresses.
Our 2010 season ended on a high...
...as Rosaliah Gold took the Bronze Ridden European Arabian Mare title at the European Championships at Moorsele. We were delighted with this result and thank her rider, Fiona Grant-Chivers, and all at Legacy Stud for producing Rosie so beautifully for us throughout the season. Her daughter, Shams Al Thahabiyya, took sixth place in a very competitive UK International two-year-old filly class, earning a silver medal along the way. Thanks to Asmar Training.
Stop press! Shams Al Thahabiyya just won her class at the Wessex C Show and took the Bronze Junior Female Champion title. Many thanks to Amanda Holloway and her mum, Jane, for producing Shamsi so well for us.
We have enjoyed a full show season this year with three horses taking to the ring at various points.
Crystal Silvern Aphrodite competed in the Crabbet classes, taking the Reserve Crabbet Championship at the North Staffs C Show in July. We look forward to seeing her ridden debut in October.
Rosaliah Gold has enjoyed a return to the ridden ring, winning Crabbet ridden classes and being well placed in open mare classes throughout the season.
Shams Al Thahabiyya has also had a competitive season, with highlights including third place in junior two-year-old filly class at the British National Championships and second place in the futurity.
Ivy Arabians started the 2010 show season in style when their 14-year-old homebred mare, Rosaliah Gold, made a return to the show-ring. "Rosie" was shown at the Eastern Arabian Group Spring Show and walked away with a class win in the senior mares, the Senior Female Championship and the Reserve Supreme Pure-bred Championship. She then made a very welcome return to the ridden arena that afternoon, under the expert hands of Fiona Grant-Chivers of the Legacy Stud. Having not been shown for five years, Rosie put on a good show to take second place in the strong open class. We are very excited to have Rosaliah Gold back in the show-ring and we look forward to her competing alongside her daughter, Shams Al Thahabiyya, at shows across the UK as the season progresses.
Ivy Arabians finished the season by showing Shams Al Thahabiyya and Psyanara at the UK International at Towerlands and were rewarded with two bronze medals. Many thanks to Kim Jones for taking such good care of our girls and for the great results achieved this season.
